Ryan Gosling’s daughters ‘know all the choreography’ for his ‘I’m Just Ken’ Oscars 2024 performance
Ryan Gosling gushed about his and Eva Mendes’ daughters helping him prepare to perform “I’m Just Ken” from the “Barbie” movie at the 2024 Oscars.
“You were telling me backstage that your daughters came to rehearsal. When they come see you do ‘I’m Just Ken,’ do they go, ‘Oh, yeah, Daddy’s fun. He’s awesome’?” Jimmy Fallon asked the actor on “The Tonight Show” Thursday.
Gosling, 43, joked Esmeralda, 9, and Amada, 7, would say, “Dad’s Kenning again” before he noted that the Academy Awards were the “first” big show his daughters have attended.
“They know all the choreography better than I do and the songs. Oh my God, they’re backstage kind of, like, showing me that,” he said while doing some of his character’s dance moves.
Fallon, 49, laughed and asked whether Esmeralda and Amada were with their father when he shot the 2023 blockbuster film, to which Gosling shared that they did join him on set a few times.
“It was their interest in Barbie and their disinterest in Ken that sort of started all of this, and, you know, obviously, it’s really been a team effort, and they were on the film, and they came to set when I filmed the number,” he said.

The “La La Land” star quipped that his daughters needed some “context” as to why there were “a lot of fake tan stains around the house.”
“I wanted them to come to the dress rehearsal just to give it some kind of context for what had been going on,” he said.
Gosling, who famously keeps his family out of the public eye, previously gushed that having Esmeralda and Amada at the Oscars on March 10 was “beautiful.”
“It was so fun because they came to the dress rehearsal the day before, and so they were in the front row. They gave me some tips and some notes, all great notes,” he told People last month.

Mendes, 50, was also in attendance for her longtime partner’s big number, though she only appeared backstage after opting not to walk the red carpet as a couple.
“Always by my man,” she captioned a video of herself standing underneath his dressing room sign at the time.
The “Hitch” actress later shared another photo of herself wearing Gosling’s black cowboy hat and pink bedazzled jacket and wrote, “You took Ken all the way to the Oscar’s [sic], RG. Now come home, we need to put the kids to bed.”
The couple has been together for more than a decade since meeting on the set of their 2012 film, “The Place Beyond the Pines.”
