Donald Trump heading to the Hamptons for Howard Lutnick-hosted fundraiser, locals brace for traffic
Talk about political gridlock.
The Hamptons is once again bracing for a traffic nightmare as Donald Trump heads out East today to fundraise.
Cantor Fitzgerald bigwig Howard Lutnick is cohosting the event with Farvahar Partners CEO Omeed Malik, and Trump mega donor, billionaire hedge funder John Paulson, reports Bloomberg.
Back in April, Paulson hosted an event for Trump at his Palm Beach, Fla. home that raised $50 million. Trump has floated his name for potential Secretary of the Treasury should he win.
We are told Paulson did not attend the Hamptons event in person.
Tickets for the Bridgehampton event range from $25,000 per person to $500,000 for a couple to host, according to an invite seen by Page Six.
Those dying for a photo can plunk down $50,000 to $75,000 to snap a pic with Trump.
Trump will be landing at Gabreski Airport in Westhampton Beach and driving to Bridgehampton, reports the East Hampton Star.
Southampton Town Police Lt. Todd Spencer confirmed to the local paper that there will road closures from around 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Westhampton Beach, Hampton Bays, Southampton, Shinnecock Hills, North Sea, Water Mill, and Bridgehampton will be affected.
President Biden was in the Hamptons in June for a fundraisers at the home of billionaire Barry Rosenstein, with locals whining about traffic back-ups.
“Everyone was complaining he added [over 45 minutes] in traffic to get from Southampton to East Hampton,” said a source at the time. “Everyone’s blaming Biden’s motorcade. People in the Hamptons are happy he’s gone as traffic all afternoon was a nightmare.”
The source added of the vibe: “Oy! The rich and famous have their noses all out of joint!”
