Lily Collins’ Emily is back — and saying bonjour to a new beauty philosophy.
While “Emily in Paris” might be known for its maximalist and at times kooky fashion, the start of Season 4 sees the titular marketing maven embracing something a bit more streamlined in the glam department.
“She wanted to have this French vibe,” head makeup artist Aurélie Payen tells Page Six Style of working with Collins.
“I think she’s in the stage where she wants to either be bold or be very ‘no-makeup makeup,’” she adds, noting the actress has “barely [any] makeup on” in some of this season’s scenes.
Foreo Luna 4 Mini
But going fresh-faced still means committing to “a beautiful prep routine for the skin” during the show’s 12-to-14-hour shoots — another thing Collins and her character have in common, given Emily keeps a Foreo Luna 4 Mini ($199) on her dresser this season.
“Each character has boxes of my favorite products during the show,” says Payen, who personally selected the “great double cleansing” device, along with giving several stars The Cream ($242 $161) — which she “love[s] the most” — from Brad Pitt’s Beau Domaine line.
Wondering what else made the cut for her on-set arsenal? Below, Payen shares some of her secret weapons, from her “wet look” hack to the pencil behind Collins’ iconic arches.
Benefit Cosmetics Goof Proof Brow Pencil
Few celebrity’ brows have generated more buzz than Collins’. And when it comes to perfecting them, Payen reaches for products like this Benefit buy to “to fill in tiny parts.”
“Once you apply it, it’s like you have fake brows … I love this one,” says the makeup master, who then locks the look in place with clear Charlotte Tilbury Brow Fix Brow Gel ($26) or Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel ($27).
Dior Rouge Dior Lipstick in 999
Whether she’s perfecting Collins’ pout or planning out 300 (!) lip looks for a giant scene like the masquerade ball, Payen’s go-to lipsticks include this classic Dior formula.
“Red lips is a typical Parisian vibe,” she adds of the “beautiful” hot hue.
Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré
Not everything in Payen’s arsenal comes with a hefty price tag. The beauty guru also swears by this “fantastic” French drugstore brand’s celeb-loved cleansing emulsion.
Dior Diorshow 24h Buildable Volume Mascara
To prepare characters for the spotlight — and the City of Light — Payen praises this mascara that “stays a long, long time” during shoots.
Lisa Eldridge Kitten Flick Liquid Eyeliner
In addition to Lisa Eldridge’s “perfect” lipsticks, Payen kept this “beautiful” black eyeliner on hand.
Danessa Myricks Colorfix Eye, Cheek & Lip Cream Pigment
One of the most challenging looks of the season? Emily’s “wet look” for a beach party scene, which featured slicked-back hair and ’80s-inspired green eyeshadow.
To keep the star’s bold eye look shimmering through the whole shoot, Payen came up with a hack using Myricks’ clear lip gloss (coming soon to Sephora).
“Once the director said ‘action,’ I put the gloss on top of the eyes … and then I just hide and they shoot the sequence,” she explains.
