Suri Cruise, 18, cools off with crop top and overalls on summer stroll in NYC
Suri Cruise beat the summer heat in a pair of denim overalls and a black crop top while on a stroll in New York City on Thursday.
The 18-year-old offspring of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise was photographed out and about with a girlfriend and appeared to be in a cheerful mood.
She wore her floral-embroidered shortalls with one strap unbuttoned and kept cool by styling her brunette hair in a messy bun.
The teen completed her casual outfit with black flip-flops and a navy bag with a green strap. She accessorized with silver rings and an ear cuff.
Suri’s stroll through the Big Apple comes as she is due to start her freshman year at Carnegie Mellon University, a private university in Pittsburgh.
Holmes, 45, revealed to Town & Country magazine this week that she has been focusing on creative endeavors, such as dancing, painting and reading, as she prepares to become an empty nester.
“I’m proud of my daughter. Of course, I will miss the close proximity, but I’m really proud of her and I’m happy,” the “Dawson’s Creek” alum reflected.
“I remember being this age, this time of beginnings. It’s exciting to learn about yourself, and I loved that time, so it makes me happy to think about it like that.”
Holmes intended to attend Columbia University after she graduated high school but deferred as her acting career took off.
Suri, for her part, has lived with her famous mother in New York City for most of her life. She opted for a private upbringing out of the spotlight and away from her estranged father, Tom.
The young woman confirmed she has no relationship with the movie star in May when she dropped his last name from her high school graduation pamphlet and went by Suri Noelle instead.
The second name honored her mother, as Noelle is Holmes’ middle name.
Meanwhile, Tom, 62, skipped his daughter’s high school graduation to attend one of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concerts in London, where he was seen having a blast.
Cruise was actively involved in Suri’s life until he and Holmes divorced in 2012, and his religion, Scientology, has been said to play a role in his estrangement from his child.
The “Mission Impossible” star was last seen with his daughter enjoying a day at Disneyland in 2012 when she was in elementary school.
